Shirley Ann Severn

Mar 26, 2020

Shirley Ann Severn passed away at her home in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born on February 11 in Greenville, Miss. Shirley had a heartwarming personality and amazing smile. Her true passion was shopping for antiques and spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter; she treasured every moment. Shirley's favorite quote "It does my heart good" was said every day of her life; she was very happy and blessed. She made friends everywhere she went from the local Chevron to the Value Village and all the amazing healthcare workers at ANMC. Shirley fought so hard to stay with us. There was no quit in Shirley. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn't mean she lost her fight to cancer. Through her, we have become so much closer as a family.

She was deeply loved and cherished by her three children, Raymond Carr Sr., Christopher Carr and Ruthanna Carr; her seven grandchildren, Sami, Daniel Jr., Jessica, Angeleena, Nicholas, Raymond Jr. and Anastasia; great-granddaughter, Valiana; brother, Steve Severn; sister, Sharon Keaveny; best friend, Lisa Smitherman; and all of her aunts, uncles and cousins. Shirley gained her wings on March 26, 2020, and rejoined her heavenly family: her parents, Raymond and Ruth Severn; her nephew, Lucas; and many more. She was a devoted military wife, military daughter and loving mom. Shirley's enjoyments of life were to travel with her family, Mickey Mouse, Disneyland, Disney World, Las Vegas, shopping and Pepsi. She was a true lifelong fan of the soap opera "Days of our Lives."

"Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us."

Celebration of life will be in May due to the coronavirus or Covid-19 situation. Please contact her daughter Ruthanna Carr at ruthannacarr@gmail.com or on Facebook.
