Sue Harris

Sue Harris died peacefully on Aug. 28, 2020, in Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of 85. She is survived by her sons, Sheldon and Bradley; and granddaughters, Lilly and Sarah. Sue is also survived by many nieces; a nephew; and friends who became family.

Sue was born on April 26, 1935, in Hugo, Okla., to Esther and Ernest Lefiles. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist in her younger years. Her life and career led her into the arena of assisting other people – first as a social worker and in later years as a social services program administrator. Sue's career in social services took her many places, but Alaska was a beloved place to her and where she called home since 1974. In her leisure time, Sue was passionate about travel, adventure and experiencing different cultures around the world.

Sue experienced early onset of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. She spent the last decade of her life peacefully under the incredibly passionate care of the staff at the Anchorage Pioneer Home.
