Susan Marie Wamser, 55, passed away on Oct. 18, 2020, in Anchorage, Alaska.

Susan was born on April 24, 1965, in Kodiak, Alaska, to Frances Irene and Thomas Shugak. She graduated from West Coast Heavy Equipment School and went on to pursue many different careers throughout her life. She worked as a cosmetologist, computer operator, bull cook on the North Slope, commercial fisherman and interior/exterior painter. Susan was born in Kodiak but also lived in Soldotna and Anchorage later in life. Susan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to play guitar, playing with her grandson Elliot and loved being a great-aunt.

Family states: "Susan is remembered as a wonderful and special grandmother, mom, auntie and great-aunt. She loved to cook, bake and cut hair for all of her family. She enjoyed spending time visiting her many family and friends. She especially loved listening to the accomplishments of others and was genuinely supportive and proud of everyone. Her loving and nurturing spirit will be forever truly missed by her family and friends."

Susan is survived by her daughters, Kristelle Marie Day of Arizona and Chloe Marie Threats of Texas; son, Charles James Miles of Soldotna; grandson, Elliot Allen Pascua of Arizona; sisters, Terrilyn Wamser of Anchorage, Marcia Anderson of Anchorage, December Zimin of Kenai, Ardith Shugak of Anchorage; nieces, Danielle Anderson of Alabama, Janelle Anderson of Anchorage, Lyndsay Wassillie of Anchorage, Kristi Anderson of Anchorage, Cheyanne Zimin of Kenai; nephews, Kyle Wassillie of Anchorage and Edwin Anderson Jr. of Washington; and parents, Frances and Thomas Shugak of Kodiak.

Susan is preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy and Charlie Wamser; and father, Bernard Wamser.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage.
