Sylvester F. Rebischke, 96, passed away on Feb. 22, 2020, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.
A viewing will take place at 11 a.m. on March 7, 2020, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 16300 Domain Lane, Eagle River, AK 99577, 907-694-2170, followed by a funeral service at noon. Father Arthur Roraff will be the officiant. Honor guard will include the Knights of Columbus. Sylvester will be laid to rest in June 2020 at the Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery. Family asks that memorial bequests be sent to the residence at 16322 Rebischke Lane, Eagle River, AK 99577-8066.
Sylvester was born on Sept. 3, 1923. He moved to Alaska in June 1961 and resided in Eagle River. Sylvester worked as a self-employed mason throughout his life. He was a World War II Veteran, serving with the United States Navy. Sylvester was a member of the VFW Post 9785 and MOC, the Knights of Columbus, Wadena, Minn., as well as a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Eagle River. Sylvester lived for his wife, son, daughter, and family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending his time fishing and playing cribbage.
Sylvester is preceded in death by his son, Tuffy (Sylvester A.); wife, Frances "Frankie"; his parents; and 10 additional siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Clarice Rebischke and her husband, William "Bill" Dix of Eagle River. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Ruth Rebischke; and brother-in-law, Ray Schwartz; along with many nieces and nephews; and good friend and cribbage partner, Steve and Joanie Anderson.
Arrangements were entrusted to Janssen's Eagle River Funeral Home.
