Tami Louise O'Brien, 42, passed away on June 22, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at home in Anchorage, Alaska. Tami was born on May 26, 1982, to Phillip and Barbara Schoffstall at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. In October 1987, she moved to Anchorage. After graduating Bartlett High School, she attended UAA where she received a bachelor's degree in radiology. Tami worked for Providence Hospital NICU & Emergency, at Elmendorf Hospital and finally at the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Clinic.
Tami and Travis were introduced via good friends Jason and Sally Dial and were wed on July 26, 2003, at Zion Lutheran Church. Tami loved spending time with her family, collecting turtles, being at her cabin, traveling, sunbathing, being out on the ocean, riding horses and shopping. Her family states: "Our beloved Tami a wife, mother, sister, aunt and daughter. Truly a blessing from God our Father. Always loving, kind. Always put her family first. She will forever be missed and will always be watching over us from heaven. We love you Tami."
Tami is survived by her husband, Travis O'Brien; daughter, Sydney O'Brien; sons, Tristan and Aiden O'Brien; father, Phillip Schoffstall; mother-in-law, Sheryl O'Brien; father-in-law, Jim O'Brien; sister, Jennifer Matthews (Anthony); brothers, Benjamin and Daniel Schoffstall; sisters-in-law, Trinity Bjork and Megan Brady; six nephews; and four nieces.
Tami is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Schoffstall; and nephew, Nicklaus Matthews.
A visitation will be held on July 13, 2024, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., at Anchorage Lutheran Church, 1420 N Street in Anchorage. Pastor Tony Shultz will officiate the service. Pallbearers will include Tristan O'Brien, Adien O'Brien, Louie Matthews, Daniel Schoffstall, Charles Bjork and Lincoln Matthieu. Tami will be laid to rest at the Valley Memorial Park, Butte Cemetery, 1555 South Old Glenn Highway in Palmer, Alaska.
