Thomas A. York

Born in Wyandotte, Mich., Tom found the love of his life with Ann Elizabeth and were blessed to have celebrated 57 years of marriage together.

An alumnus of Michigan State University and the University of Missouri, he volunteered for Officer Candidate School in 1968. He had the honor to command A Company, 10th Engineers, the 562nd Engineer Company, the 6th Engineer Battalion and the Military District of New York. Tom retired from the Army as a Colonel in 1998, and continued as a registered professional engineer.

The son of Thomas Alfred and Ruth Marion York, Tom is survived by his sister, Denise Goin of Wyandotte; brother, Robert York of Dayton, Ohio; and brother, William York of Denver, Colo. Tom and Ann have two sons and five grandchildren: son, Thomas Ambrose York with wife Mary Frances of Richmond, Va., and their children, Elizabeth Martha, William Ambrose and Sarah Frances; and son, Robert William "Bo" York with wife Bonnie Elizabeth of Anchorage, Alaska, and their children, Magdalen Sarah and Samuel Pete.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11 a.m., at his home church, River Road United Methodist Church in Richmond, Va., with interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.
