Thomas L. Lake

Dec 17, 1972 -

Jul 18, 2023

Anchorage, Alaska, resident Tom Lake, age 50, died on July 18, 2023, in a motorcycle accident. Tom was born in Susquehanna, Pa., on Dec. 17, 1972. Growing up, he was an active part of his community, playing sports and assisting with the volunteer fire department and emergency response team.

In 1992, the Air Force brought Tom to Alaska, where he met his wife, Kylie Heinz. They had three sons, each of whom Tom shared his love of life and hobbies with - coaching a team, cheering from the sidelines or getting geared up for an outdoor adventure.

Following Tom's military service, he continued his career in the HVAC industry. In 2014, Tom fulfilled his dream of starting his own HVAC business, Alaska Boiler & Burner. His hard work, drive and commitment to people allowed his business to grow and thrive.

When he wasn't working, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and doing anything that involved an engine! Snowmachining, fishing, racing cars and, his most recent passion, riding motorcycles of all types, from dirt bikes to adventure bikes to time on his Harley. He took many trips across the country and Alaska on his motorcycle.

Tom had tremendous mechanical skills that he was always willing to share; he was the first to help anybody with any project anywhere, anytime. Regardless of the hour, he also had a joke to share and a confident attitude to solve any problem.

Tom is survived by his wife, Kylie; three sons, Kevin (25), Jacob (22) and Carson (16); parents, Edward and Geri Lake; brothers, Howard, Ed and Marc (Lissa) Lake; and sister, Sandy (Tom) Gall. Memorial donations can be made in Tom's name to Hope Community Resources, an Alaska organization providing support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Visitation for Tom will be held at Legacy Funeral Home – Heritage Chapel in Anchorage on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. The memorial service will begin at 1 p.m., followed with a graveside service.
