Vern Archibald

Jul 3, 1948 -

Oct 6, 2020

Vern Bingham Archibald passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 6, 2020, at the age of 72, at his home. He was born on July 3, 1948, in Preston, Idaho, to Virgil and Marzella Archibald.

He was raised on a dairy farm in Dayton, Idaho, with his seven sisters and three brothers. He loved horseback riding, hunting, fishing and spending time outside. Vern attended Westside High School, class of 1966, and upon graduating he married and joined the Air Force as a jet mechanic. He moved to Alaska, where he began his lifelong career trade and passion as a heavy equipment mechanic. He worked for the Municipality of Anchorage for the majority of his career.

Everyone valued Vern for his industry knowledge, quirky sense of humor, fishing tips and his dedication to his stand on state and government issues. He was a kind-hearted man, with a salty disposition, who cared deeply for his children, his family and his friends.

He is survived by his three children, Sheri, Travis and Adam; five grandchildren; and his six sisters; and two brothers. He was the rock of our family and will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
