Victor VanTyler

Victor Kainen VanTyler, known to many as Byrd, 52, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on April 18, 2020, at Providence Medical Center.

Victor was born on Nov. 13, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Ruby Kailipilo Fili and Hermogenes Ramirez and attended Farrington High School. She moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in the '90s.

Victor began her career as a chef while in Hawaii working for Cafe Cambio, an upscale Italian restaurant located in the heart of Honolulu. When she moved to Alaska, being a chef remained her passion, however she taught herself carpentry and auto mechanics as well. She loved cooking, being near her family and animals, especially her dogs. Her hobbies were training animals, fixing cars and being creative. She loved her daughter of many years and her grandchildren, even taking in other children as her own.

She is survived by daughter, Kulani Domingo; her grandchildren, Ku'uipo Medeiros, Kenneth Domingo III, Kaiah Domingo, Kamailelei Domingo, KaVega Domingo, Kaide Domingo and Amarie Motuga; her hanai son, Cody Fujitani; her significant other, Violeta Seui, her brothers, Hermin "Junior" Ramirez, Jeremiah Stanley, Floranio "Ray" Ramirez and Macarr "Opel" Ramirez; her sisters, Liane Hale and Yohanio "Kri" Ramirez; nieces; nephews; and other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Fili; and sisters, Toby Ledward, Sherila Medeiros and Ingracia "Tracy" Nebreja.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to her granddaughter, Kuuipo Medeiros at Credit Union 1.
