Virginia was born in Portland, Ore., and grew up in the Kelso/Longview area. As a young adult, she relocated to Alaska with her husband, Vince, to establish a life and raise a family. Virginia's early years were marked by extensive travel to destinations such as Germany, Africa, and New Zealand. However, her fondest memories were made during summers spent at her Kenai River home, where she cultivated exquisite flowers and vegetables in her greenhouse. During the winter months, Virginia would reside in Kauai, Hawaii, where she took great pleasure in hosting her family and friends. She was a dearly loved mother, grandmother and friend, and she will be forever remembered.
The Halverson Family extends their gratitude to Janie Arnold, a loyal family friend, for providing devoted care to Virginia over the years. They also appreciate the exceptional care provided by the staff at Providence Hospital, Providence Transitional Care and Maple Springs.
In accordance with Virginia's wishes, no public service will be held. This past summer, her family gathered in Kenai to honor her memory and celebrate her remarkable life.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions can be made in Virginia's honor to the Alaska American Cancer Society at http://cancer.org/alaskagiving.
