Sep 25, 2020
William Texeira Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Sept. 25, 2020, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska. He was 86. His bride of 60 years, Lahapa, was by his side until the end.
William graduated from Kapaa High School in 1953. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army and National Guard Service. He was employed by a variety of companies in Hawaii and retired from Kauai Sugar Storage. He moved to Utqiagvik, Alaska, in 1995, and worked for the North Slope Borough until his second retirement in 2010.
William's greatest pleasure came from his family. He shared nine children with Lahapa and could always be found surrounded by them, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. They brought smiles to his face and his eyes lit up when they were around. He was a true patriarch for our family.
William was preceded in death by his parents, William Texeira Sr. and Angeline Chandler. He is survived by his wife, Miriam "Lahapa" Alapai Texeira; and children, William "Pake Boy" III (Stacy Ann), Wiley Ann Contrades (Kalei), Noe Texeira (Mark Adams), Wilbert Kunani (Ethel), Kimo (Michelle Jacintho), Malia Texeira (Barrow Brower), Kathi Texeira (Derek Ahgeak), Kimo Jr. (Christi) and Kalen Texeira.
He was a beloved brother to Anthony (Toby), Michael (Bonnie), Angelina "Honey" (Lynn Turner), Steven, Rosalina "Sweetie" Lopez (Patrick), David (Norma), Aloysius (Leslee) and Chanel Catbagan (Mario).
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a public viewing for William on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. There will be a private service following the viewing for the family due to the COVID-19 attendance limitations.
