Charles Lane III

Charles Lane III passed away on Sept. 26, 2020, after a battle with stomach cancer. His son, Edward, was the light of his life. Charles loved to hunt, fish and time spent with friends and family. He loved listening to music and word searches. Charles was born on Oct. 17, 1982, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Charles Lane Jr. and Theresa Cooper. Charles is survived by his sons, Lane Iyakitan and Edward Lane; his father, Charles Lane Jr.; grandparents, Charles and Nancy Lane; siblings, Charlotte Kost, Esther Kost, Elizabeth Hancock, Douglas Lane, Derek Akeya, Robert McCoy, Vernon and Lance Lane; uncles, Russell Silook and Bryan Lane; and aunts, Charlene Lane, Kirsten Lane, Nicole Celano, Carol Hull and Anna Chamberland. Charles also survived life partner Denise Rock. Charles is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Mary Slwooko Lane and Beatrice Sampson; his mother, Theresa Cooper; brother, William Kost; uncles, Douglas Silook and Gerald Kost; aunts, Lorraine Gafford, Jewell Wynegar, and Jacqueline Silook. Cousins, Barbara and Jewel Gafford; and Gwen Burkett, Edward's mother.

A service will be held at the First Native Baptist Church on Oct. 17, 2020, at noon. The family will be hosting a wake at The Sweet Basil Cafe on Oct. 17, 2020, at 2 p.m.
