Ronald Smith

Ronald Frank Smith, 84, passed away on Oct. 14, 2020, at his home at Wolf Lake, Alaska. He was born on March 3, 1936. He grew up in Randolph, Vt., with his parents, George Smith and Cordelia Bingham.

Ron enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in England, the Lower 48 and eventually Alaska in 1969. He retired after 20 years of service.

He continued to work and explore Alaska while running the family owned construction business until he was 67.

He loved to hunt and fish. Being a pilot gave him the opportunity to explore remote Alaska. He had a passion to travel.

His favorite destinations were London, Europe and Mexico.

Ron had too many hobbies to list, and there wasn't anything he wouldn't try at least once. He loved his beagles.

Ron is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine; daughter, Kitty and husband Jeff; brother, Richard and wife Meredith; cousin, Beth Wood; family and friends in Alaska, Vermont, and New Mexico.

A private memorial was held by the family.
