John Mezzano
Mar 30, 1952 -
Nov 26, 2020
Our hearts are heavy with sadness and shock as we announce the unexpected passing of longtime Anchorage, Alaska, resident John Anton Mezzano.
John was born in Wakefield, Mich., on March 30, 1952, to Anton and Lucy Mezzano. He grew up hunting and fishing and loving the outdoors. He joined the military right out of high school and proudly and honorably served our country as a medic in the United States Navy. He moved his family to Alaska after retiring from the Navy to care for an elderly aunt. He loved Alaska and the out door lifestyle that came with it. He worked at the old Anchorage Times, North Star Hospital, MEPS and the VA. He was good at helping soldiers and others, but unfortunately was unable to find the help he needed himself. John struggled with PTSD associated with his 22-year military service. He lost that battle at his home in Coatesville, Ind., on Nov. 26, 2020.
John leaves behind his wife Reba; son, Jason (Teresa) Mezzano; daughters, Amanda (Joey) Feltner and Mary Mezzano; eight grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Krznarich; lifelong best friend, Wayne Radder; and so many friends and extended family he knew and loved through the years.
A small memorial service was held in Coatesville on Dec. 3, 2020.
