Nov 26, 1940 -

Apr 8, 2021

Robert "Bob" Francis Blount, beloved husband, and devoted father and grandfather, passed away on April 8, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on Nov. 26, 1940, in Central Falls, R.I., to Joseph and Hilda Blount. He grew up in Pawtucket, R.I., and graduated from St. Raphael Academy in 1958.

After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1959. While stationed in Bedford, Mass., he met the love of his life, Patricia "Pat," and they married in 1963. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage in which they built the foundation for a strong family life.

During Bob's Air Force career he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, AF Commendation Medal, AF Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Upon his military retirement in 1980, his family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he served a career with the USPS until medical retirement in 1998.

Bob was known for his quiet and private nature. In his younger years, he enjoyed all Alaska has to offer. He was an avid fisherman who loved boating and camping with his family. In his more recent years, Bob loved tending his garden and spoiling his dog. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

He is survived by his siblings, Joseph and Thomas Blount, Elizabeth Brennan and Hilda Lyon; his wife, Pat; and three children, Robert C. Blount (Tita), Kerri Blount and Kristen Bell (Ben); nine grandchildren, Stephan (Shannon), Kylara (Eric), Kaia, Keiran, Karson, Jacob, Dylan, Tony and Morgan; as well as two great-grandchildren, Erin and Journey.

A Mass will be held at Holy Cross Parish, 2627 Lore Road in Anchorage, on May 3, 2021, at 11 a.m. His burial will follow at 1 p.m., at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
