Lucio Batayon entered his eternal rest unexpectedly on Sept. 26, 2021, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of 74.
Lucio was born in Banay-Banay Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines, on Feb. 11, 1947, to Fabiana Casulucan and Domingo Batayon. He graduated with an associate degree in agriculture chemistry at the University of Philippines and a bachelor's degree in science of commerce for accounting at Laguna College of Business and Arts. He was involved in the community with the Mabuhay Lions Club as their President and Treasurer from 1988 to 1993. After 37 rewarding years at the United States Postal Service, he retired in 2014, where he held various positions from accounting to postal clerk.
Lucio was a devoted husband, dedicated father and a loving Lolo (Grandpa). On Jan. 9, 1980, he married the love of his life and better half, Guadalupe. During their 41 years of marriage, they welcomed three beautiful daughters.
Lucio is survived by his spouse, Guadalupe Batayon; daughter, Kathleen and spouse John; daughter, Kathreen and spouse Chris; daughter, Rhona and spouse Ian; granddaughter, Jacqueline; two grandsons, Jace and Jax; brothers, Edilberto and Clemente; sisters, Dolores, Amanda, Rufina and Julieta; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fabiana and Domingo Batayon; and his uncle, Ernesto Casulucan and his wife Corazon.
He was an avid bowler, who almost reached a perfect score of 300, three times! His favorite sports were baseball - go Cubs! - and basketball. He enjoyed karaoke at any time of the day! In his leisurely time he loved numerous shows, ranging from the classics to westerns to game shows and more sports. He had a joy for math and a sense of humor that brought a smile to everyone around him.
Lucio had an admirable work ethic that is rare. He was dependable and charismatic, but his best trait was his generosity and willingness to help others. He encouraged everyone around him to be their best.
A funeral service is scheduled from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Oct. 6 , 2021, at Kehl's Legacy Funeral Home. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Megan Room, 6591 A Street, Anchorage, AK 99518.
