Victor Hugo Moreno, 60, of Palmer, Alaska, disappeared during a fishing trip with friends in Whitter, Alaska, on Aug. 21, 2021.
Victor was born in Bogota, Columbia, and came to America in the early 90s for a better life. He traveled all over South America, where he worked as a professional chef and later got into construction work when he came to Alaska. He met his loving wife Sherry in 2006. For the last five years he has worked for Hope Community Resources as a Special Projects Supervisor. He loved to cook for family and friends, travel with his wife, play with his American bully, Nico, and go on fishing trips with his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Sherry Moreno; two daughters Alex and Daniella; stepdaughter, Brittany; two grandchildren, Giulianna and Leito; and numerous family members in Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hugo Hernando Moreno; and stepdaughter, Sharday Badillo.
The family would like to thank all who have been involved in the search for Victor, especially Alaska Dive Search Rescue & Recovery Team, U.S. Coast Guard and the Alaska State Troopers. Even though he has not been recovered, we still hold out hope that we will be able to bring him home in the future.
A celebration of life will be held on Oct. 30, 2021, at 1 p.m., at Hope Community Resources, 540 West International Airport Road in Anchorage, Alaska. Zoom will be provided at www.hopealaska.org/ for those unable to attend in person. Masks will be required for all who attend.
