Randy (Gudrun) Ranzenberger Polak, 83, passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, due to complications from various medical conditions on Jan. 28, 2022. She fought a long and courageous battle to the end.
Randy was born in Germany to parents Hans and Doris Ranzenberger in 1939.
She met the love of her life, Charles, while he was stationed in Germany. While he was still in the Air Force they traveled to England, France, California and the East Coast before arriving in Alaska in September 1968. They made Eagle River, Alaska, their home then and never left.
Randy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, gardening, shopping, reading, crocheting and knitting. Randy ran a successful bed-and-breakfast in Eagle River, where she made friends from all over the world. She also had a deep love for all of her pets and the wild animals that call Alaska home.
Randy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Paul Polak Jr.; and grandson, Hans Christian Polak
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol (Dan) Ritchie; sons, Dieter (Lia) Polak, Rory Polak and Tab (Gayle) Polak; daughter, Wendy (Bruce) Mahan; granddaughters, Chelsea Polak, Wendi Yohman and Krista Mahan; grandsons, Jeremy Polak, Christian Polak, Shawn Polak, Hans Dieter Bergquist, Austin Mahan, Brayden Mahan and Emmory Tablyn; and many great-grandsons and great-granddaughters.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 13, 2022, at the Moose Run Golf Course Clubhouse at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
