Eddie Norvell

Eddie was born in San Francisco, Calif., on July 30, 1946.

Eddie served in the United States Army from September 1965 to August 1968 as a Military Policeman. Eddie served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 765th Military Police Unit and the 9th Infantry Division.

Eddie moved to Alaska in 1973 to manage the Evergreen bar and restaurant in Delta Junction, Alaska, until January 1978. Eddie accepted a job in Saudi Arabia in materials management with Fluor Corporation in February 1978–1980, then returned to Alaska and worked on several North Slope projects in materials management until his retirement from Carlile Transportation in 2016.

Eddie loved to work, fish, play guitar and racquetball. He traveled Alaska and loved to spend time with his family. Eddie will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mattie Norvell; son, Aaron Preston Norvell; and sisters, Kathy Merschman and Marilyn Graves.

Eddie is survived by his beloved wife, Tonette Norvell; daughters, Alicia Norvell, Michelle Van Dahlen and Katherine Strobel; stepsons, Travis and Chad Sturgis; brother, Don Norvell; sister-in-law, Debbie Norvell; brother-in-law and closest friend, Ron Graves; 13 grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson on April 22, 2022, at 1 p.m.
