Janice Carolyn Moreland Campbell passed away on Sept. 4, 2022, in Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of 91. She was born on Aug. 7, 1931, in Winter Haven, Fla., to Ruby and Dailey Moreland. She graduated from high school in Winter Haven and received a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Florida State University.
On May 8, 1953, she married Louis Dean Campbell, a dashing young Air Force pilot. Janice had many adventures with her family as they traveled across the U.S. The couple and their four children moved to Anchorage in 1973. Janice was a devoted U.S. Air Force wife and a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother.
Janice was an active member of the First United Methodist Church (FUMC) and P.E.O. Chapter J. She was an avid supporter of the arts and was an advocate for public education.
Janice is survived by her husband of 69 years, Col. (Ret.) Louis D. Campbell; children, Dean Campbell (Debi Doolittle Campbell), Wayne Campbell (Janet Carr-Campbell), Cindy Campbell Walton and Holly Campbell Henningsen (Rick Henningsen); grandchildren, Wayne Walton (Helen), Jayme Fontenot (Brian), Tyler Campbell and Carly Campbell (Steven Khan); and great-granddaughters, Emma Caroline Walton and Linnea Marie Khan.
A Memorial Service will be held in Anchorage on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at 3:30 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 725 West 9th Avenue. Janice will be laid to rest at Fort Richardson National Cemetery at a later date.
