Frederick "Fred" Neal Loyer, 84, passed away on Oct. 19, 2022. Fred was born in Palmer, Alaska, on April 2, 1938, to Joseph Alexander and Naomi Charlotte Loyer - original colonists of the Matanuska Valley.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Naomi Loyer; son, Benjamin Loyer; brothers, James, Victor, Kenneth, Gary and Rick Loyer; and sister, Norma Benson.
Fred is survived by his daughters, Charlotte Loyer and Anja (Scott) Roloff; son, Joseph (Ashley) Loyer; brother, Dennis "Butch" (Emily) Loyer; sisters, Dorothy Hubbard (Ron Meehan) Rita Loyer and Janice (Lee) Svoboda; grandchildren, Kyle (Courtney) Loyer, Aaron (Crystal) Loyer, Steven Loyer, Kamen Loyer, Cebrina Michele, Logan Roloff, Kiernan Lambert and Mason Lambert; as well as many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Palmer High School and a four-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. After retiring from Local 302, where he taught in their apprentice program that included hazmat classes, he started his own mobile mechanic business. He was passionate about flying and riding his side by side with family and friends. Fred could fix anything and enjoyed doing so while helping others.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, from 2-4:30 p.m., at the American Legion 15, 1550 Mystic Circle in Palmer.
