Dec 7, 2022
Daniel Everett Sonnentag of Wasilla, Alaska, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 7, 2022, with his wife, children and grandchildren by his side.
Daniel was born in Leona, Wis., on Sept. 1, 1944, and was the third of nine children to Jacob and Lorraine Sonnentag, who both preceded him in death. Daniel's family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1959, when he was a teenager. He graduated from East High School and after serving time in the U.S. Army, he met the love of his life, Anette Huron, and they married at Holy Family Cathedral in Anchorage in 1968. In 1977, Daniel moved his family to Medford, Ore., where they lived until 2005, when they decided to return home to Alaska. Daniel was an avid hunter, fisherman and skeet shooter, but most of all loved spending every weekend with his family. He cherished his moose, caribou and bird hunting trips with his sons, sons-in-law and grandchildren.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anette; daughters, Dawn Baham (husband Kevin) and Linda Guertin (husband Shaun); sons, Dan Sonnentag (wife Gretchen) and Everett Sonnentag (wife Alysa); grandchildren, Daniel, Alex and Catherine Baham (fiance Keith), Kaylee Edmonds (husband Nova) and Hayden and Ty Sonnentag; great-granddaughter, Parker Edmonds; brothers, Bud, Greg (Patsy), Tim (Denise) and Chuck (Cheryl) Sonnentag; sisters, Darlene King (Gene), Marie Penrod (Russell), Barbara Slama (Mark) and Becky Gerondale (Richard); and several nieces and nephews. Daniel was loved by so many and will truly be missed. Heaven has truly gained an angel.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at 12 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1201 Bogard Road in Wasilla.
