Kathleen Mary Summers

Apr 30, 1936 -

Nov 26, 2022

Alaska resident Kathleen Mary Summers passed away on Nov. 26, 2022, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. She was cremated and a beautiful service was held at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Palmer, Alaska, with Fr. Michael Shields officiating. Kathleen was born on April 30, 1936, in Kingston, N.Y., to Richard and Alice Dulin. She had four sisters: Maureen, Carol (RIP), Alice and Patricia. At age 21, she graduated St. Joseph's college with a B.A. and immediately entered the Sisters of Mercy convent. In 1958, she became Sister Mary Celestia; she was a Catholic Nun for 11 years. In 1970, she met and married the one and only love of her life, Charles H. Summers, in St. Croix VI. They were married for 37 years and had two children: son Kris (51) and daughter Dawn (50). Kathleen and her husband moved to Alaska in 1992, and had the honor of becoming caretakers for Alaskan Pioneer Ms. Louise Kellogg for eight years until her passing in 2001. They then traveled the Lower 48 until he died in 2007. Widowed for 13 years, she never removed the ring Charles put on her finger in 1970 and passed wearing said ring. Kathleen moved back to Alaska in 2020 to be with family, where she resided until her passing. Kathleen's happiness came from helping others in life, that was very clear! She never feared where her next meal, dollar or shelter would come from; she knew undeniably God had that covered and he always did! She knew to live a "rich" life had zero to do with anything tangible yet your personal relationship with God. Which is why she put God first always! Kathleen never judged a single person; she was a true role model to all who met her, yet too modest to ever see that. If she ever met you, she would never forget you and trust me vice versa she truly was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all! Kathleen is survived by her son, Kris Summers (Lisa); daughter, Dawn Rosario (Tony); granddaughters, Kelle, Erin, Summer and Winter; grandsons, Devin, Austin, Hunter; and great-grandson, Nathaniel.
