Charles "Chuck" Weiler

Lifelong Alaska resident Charles "Chuck" Weiler, age 85, died on Oct. 11, 2022.

Chuck was born on April 26, 1937, in Palmer, Alaska, to Matanuska Valley Colonists Nicholas and Elsa Weiler.

He attended Anchorage, Alaska, schools and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. After college, he was drafted into the Army and served in France during the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a data analyst at Clear, Alaska for 27 years with the Ballistic Missile Warning System, and at Allvest Cordova Center for seven years as a senior case manager.

Chuck was a licensed pilot and an officer in the Civil Air Patrol for search and rescue, a member of the State Judicial Conduct Commission, a board member of the Blood Bank of Alaska and a Lion's member for years.

His family described him with the words that were the core of his life and personality: a generous, loyal, honest, hardworking, kind, gentle soul who was always there for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Elsa Weiler; brothers, Gene and Harold Weiler; and sister, Gladys. His wife of 48 years, Dolores Weiler, followed him in death on Dec. 11, 2022.

He is survived by his daughters, Alicia Loveland of Casper, Wyo., and Tisa Barber of Maricopa, Ariz.; sister, Virginia Schwedler of Friday Harbor, Wash.; brother, Ted Weiler of Fairbanks, Alaska; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
