Jan 14, 2023

Rebecca "Becky" Parker died on Jan. 14, 2023.

She was a resident of Alaska for over 60 years. She was born in West Virginia on June 17, 1930. Becky had been married to Winfred Parker for 60 years. Winfred passed away in 2012. With her husband in the military they were stationed in many different places. Becky was a bookkeeper in many of these locations. Upon moving to Alaska she worked for CPA firms and eventually started her own bookkeeping service which she ran for over 30 years. She had many interesting stories about movers and shakers from the 60's and 70's. Even though she worked full time she raised three children and was a wonderful grandmother to multiple grandchildren.

Becky enjoyed UAA hockey, the Great Alaska Shootout and horse racing. The most anticipated time for her was spending Christmas Eve at home with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was also an avid traveler with annual trips in the motorhome to the lower 48. Destinations included National Monuments and Parks along the way to the east coast to visit family and friends as well as trips to the Grand Ole Opry and Branson, Missouri. After their motorhome days Becky and Winfred would make frequent trips to Reno and Las Vegas.

A woman that possessed knowledge, devotion and generosity. Her kindness and helping hand was felt by many. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

Becky is survived by her son, William Parker (Maureen), daughter, Rhonda Matlock (Craig) and daughter, Gail Campbell (Tony). She is also survived by eight grandsons, Jody, Cory, Christopher, Steven, Nicholas, Jaylen, Jordan and Kody, one granddaughter, Amy; and three great grandchildren.

A service and burial will be held at Fort Richardson National Cemetery in the late spring or early summer. The date and time of the service is yet to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
