Violeta Dignadice Leysa

Mrs. Violeta Dignadice Leysa was born on Jan. 20, 1932, in Ajuy, Iloilo, Philippines. She was the second to the youngest of seven children.

Violeta received her bachelor's of science in commerce, majoring in banking and finance, from the Central Philippine University. In 1978, Violeta, her husband Larry and daughter immigrated to Alaska upon the request of her eldest sister. Through the years, she worked at National Bank of Alaska as a research clerk.

Violeta was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also involved in her church and was a member of the Women's Ministry at First American Baptist Church. Violeta was a great supporter and right hand of her husband, Larry, during his pastoral ministry at the Filipino-American Baptist Church.

Mrs. Violeta Leysa is survived by her husband, Larry Leysa; daughter, Lita Lou Magdas; and three grandchildren, Allegra, Brigette and Jordan.

A Memorial Service for Violeta Leysa will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., at First American Baptist Church, 1200 East 27th Avenue in Anchorage, Alaska. Pastor Patricia Cones and Pastor John Jeffers leading the service. Interment will be scheduled for a later date.
