Winburn Troy Prather

Feb 5, 1928 -

Apr 10, 2020

Mr. Winburn Troy Prather, "92" years young, took his final steps up to heaven to be with his heavenly father, loved ones and his musician friends. Troy always told me he had a "special relationship with God." Troy and Wanda were married after a "30-year courtship" and raising a great-grandson Case.

Troy was born in Mobeetie, Texas, to his loving parents, Eugene and Jessie Prather. Troy was the oldest of five children: Troy, Herman, Yvonne, Elwanda and Joe Doyle. Troy worked on a farm with his dad and bought his own farm, but Troy's first love was music. Troy's dad bought him his first mandolin when he was 7, and later a fiddle. The fiddle, his favorite, along with his guitars, piano and anything that made music.

Troy was known by his loving family as "Dear Ole Dad" and "Daddy." Troy had a very loving family: Barbara, Gail, Pete, Nancy, Tamy, Stephanie and Krystal, who were his pride and joy, along with multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Troy brought his family to Alaska from New Mexico on April 1, 1969. Troy started working in construction, first in Texas and New Mexico. He continued to work in Alaska for multiple construction companies.

Troy played music at multiple clubs and VFWs. Troy had so many musician friends that he worked with and whom were ready to share the stage with him. Troy and his fiddle went silent and we will miss them both.

There will be a celebration of life for Troy when his family and friends are able to get together at a later date.

Troy was preceded in his home going by his loving parents; sister, Yvonne Campbell; Joe Doyle; and Jessie Prather.

Mr. Troy, you are and will be so missed, we love you.
