Nancy Miller

May 18, 1936 -

Jun 19, 2023

Nancy Louise Miller, 87, of Soldotna, Alaska, gained her wings on June 19, 2023, with her youngest son Matthew and his wife Deborah at her bedside in Anchorage, Alaska.

Born in Lasalle, Ill., on May 18, 1936, to Leroy and Dorothy Roebuck, Nancy was moved at a young age and found her home in Bend, Ore., where she was raised with her brother Roger.

Nancy met the love of her life, Pete Miller, in Bend, who was in the Navy when he wed Nancy. They moved to San Diego, Calif., where they started a family with their first-born Mike Miller.

Pete and Nancy moved back to their hometown of Bend, where they had three more children: Mark, Marcia and Matt. They eventually found their way to Alaska, where they lived in Anchorage and Eagle River until finally settling in Soldotna, where Pete built Nancy her dream home. Both Pete and Nancy were avid salmon fisherman, and they were always trying to out-fish each other. They were happily married for 58 years.

Nancy was very talented and had many hobbies, including crocheting, knitting, watching football, singing, arts and crafts, shopping, gardening, dining out, gambling and traveling. After her fall in December, we brought her to Anchorage where we could visit her daily.

Nancy was a great mother and grandmother. She touched so many lives and she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and even those who were only acquaintances. She had a very strong bond with her daughter Marcia. They were inseparable, and enjoyed fishing in the summer and traveling together during the winter months.

Nancy was a wonderful cook and was always eager to share her talent by hosting spectacular dinners on Mackey Lake. Those times will always be cherished by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, in 2012; son, Mark, in 2021;

granddaughters, Nicole and Sophia; and brother, Roger. She is survived by three children, Mike (Sheryl), Marcia (Randy) and Matthew (Deborah); daughter-in-law, Terry; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on the Kenai River in July 2023.
