Donna Orr

Sep 24, 1944 -

Aug 5, 2023

Donna Patricia Orr (Durham) of Anchorage, Alaska, went home to be with Jesus on Aug. 5, 2023, in Sanford, N.C. She was 78 years old.

Donna was born on Sept. 24, 1944, to Buck and Sue Durham in Eugene, Ore. After spending much of her childhood moving around the west coast, Donna graduated from West Seattle High School in 1962. Donna attended Central Washington State College and graduated in 1967 with a bachelor's degree in sociology.

Upon graduation, Donna returned to Seattle and began working at Icicle Seafoods and later at Rainier Bank. In 1975, while working at Rainier Bank, Donna met her future husband, Steve Orr. Steve and Donna were married in January 1981 and welcomed their first daughter, Susanna, in December 1981. Their daughter Sharon was born in May 1984. Donna loved being a mom to her two girls and was frequently seen volunteering at their various sporting events and was even the President of their school's PTA.

In June 1991, the family moved from Washington state to Anchorage. In 1992, Donna began a nearly 30-year career selling residential real estate, starting at Polar Realty, moving on to Jack White Realty, Remax Properties, and finally Herrington & Company. Donna delighted in helping hundreds of families obtain their dream of homeownership. She retired from real estate in 2019, cementing an incredible career marked by high ethical standards and moral courage.

Donna prioritized God and his word first in her life, which helped her love like Jesus to so many who knew her. She had a giving heart and would help anyone she could. She found her church family at Trinity Presbyterian Church in 1991, where she served in the children's ministry and eventually as a Deacon.

After losing her husband in October 2019, Donna made her last move and headed south. In December 2020, she relocated to North Carolina to live with her daughter Sharon and her family. She spent her final years with two of her grandchildren, going to lunch, movies and frequent stops at Dairy Queen for M&M Blizzards. She had an infectious smile, calming demeanor and a loving heart all the way to her final breath.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Sue Durham; husband, Steve Orr; sister-in-law, Colleen Durham; and son-in-law, Jason Moore. Donna is survived by daughters, Sharon (Josh) and Susanna; along with her grandchildren, Kiana, Madison, Everett and Jackson; brothers, David (Francies), Doug and Matt (Kathy); and many nieces and nephews.

"This is the day which the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24

Services will be announced at a later date. In place of flowers, please give an offering to your local church in Donna's name.
