SSG Joshua A. Landers, U.S. Army retired, age 50, died on Sept. 18, 2023, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska, after succumbing to his injuries from a motorcycle accident. He was born on Aug. 22, 1973, in Charleston, W.Va. Right after graduating high school in 1991, he enlisted in the United States Army. His longtime military career took him all over the world and during his second stint in Alaska in 2000, he decided to make Alaska his home. While stationed in Alaska in 2000, he met and fell in love with his soul mate, Wendy, whom he married in 2003 and they went on to have a wonderful family.

In 2012, after 20 years of service in the Army, he retired in Wasilla, Alaska. After retiring, Josh went on to pursue several of many dreams and obtained many different degrees. When not working he enjoyed several different passions, including motorcycles, a firearms enthusiast and being a husband to his lovely wife and a father to his three sons.

His family would like you to know that: "Josh was a loving husband, devoted father, dear friend and forever a true American patriot." "If you were his family or friend, there was nothing he would not do for you and he will be dearly missed." "This world truly lost a beautiful soul"

Josh is survived by his wife of 20 years, Wendy Landers; three sons, Cody Landers, Colton Landers and Corbyn Landers; loving mother, Patsy Landers; brother-in-law, Tim Lovejoy; nephews, Chase and Zachary Lovejoy; in-laws, Robert and Barbara Koehler; sister/brother-in-law, Sandra and Charles Hansen; brother/sister-in-law, Mark and Shauna Koehler; brother-in-law, Rusty Koehler; nephew, Jake Koehler; as well as many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Landers; and sister, Erika Lovejoy.

There will be a visitation at Legacy Funeral Homes, 1707 Bragaw Street in Anchorage, on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Fort Richardson Army Base in Anchorage, for family and close friends, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
