Richard "Rick" Hiskett

May 3, 1953 -

Jul 26, 2023

Richard Lee Hiskett, formerly of Anchorage, Alaska, died in Tulsa, Okla., from complications of Alzheimer's disease on July 26, 2023. He was born to Opha and Roy Grant Hiskett in Tulsa on May 3, 1953. Rick had a very active youth enjoying numerous sports. He worked his way through college and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in business administration in 1975.

Rick was an auditor with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. of Tulsa. In San Francisco, Calif., he worked as a methods and procedures system analyst. He was part of the elite team selected to plan and manage the pipeline portion of the trans-Alaska pipeline project. He worked for Alyeska Pipeline Service, Standard Alaska Production, SOHIO and BP as budgets and control supervisor, and as accounting supervisor. He worked as business development manager with APC Inc.

Rick bought his first home in Anchorage and owned a condo in Girdwood, Alaska. He became an avid skier who enjoyed skiing some of the great mountains in America and Europe, and uncharted mountains in New Zealand. He cross-country skied, hiked and biked into the Alaska wilderness, including camping adventures on Denali. For work he lived in the Happy Valley encampment and in the Prudhoe and Endicott facilities. He did the Polar Bear plunges for the fun of it. Rick purchased a home outside Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where he had the great pleasure of swimming with grey humpback whales.

Rick quit his last job in the mid-1990s to return to Tulsa to help the family at his mother's request. He stayed active. He joined the Tulsa Ski Club and won NASTAR medals. He was selected to umpire ASA and AFA girls' softball National Championships. He helped care for the parents of Terre Gorraez in Cabo. Rick and Tere spent many happy days together.

Rick brought happiness and enriched the lives of his surviving four siblings and their children, who have great memories of doing exciting, fun things and "roughhousing" with Uncle Rick.

He is greatly missed, always loved, and will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Oct. 6, 2023, in Tulsa. Arrangements are by Fitzerald's Funeral Home, Southwood Chapel.
