Sharon Rebecca Bate, 78, passed away on Nov. 19, 2023, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage.
Sharon was born on Dec. 29, 1944, in Aransas Pass, Texas to Milburn Garrett Cox and Eleanor Estella Littell. Sharon held many different jobs over the years including working for the National Bank of Alaska Data Center, as a bookkeeper for the Suicide Prevention Center, as the owner/bookkeeper for Kiddy Drop Day Care, and the Anchorage School District in the procurement office. Sharon met Lester Harrison Bate Jr. and they were married on Feb. 3, 1968, at the Sunset Wedding Chapel in Carson City, Nev. Sharon enjoyed bowling, pool, cards, card games, puzzles, and above all spending time with her family.
Family states, "She was a bright, strong woman who loved to keep her favorite things close and loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings deeply. She was generous and had a big voice and jovial laugh. She was very much loved and will be missed."
Sharon is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Wetzler, Sharon Liska (Scott), Trina Deuber (Bobby), and Ginger Shoopman; son, Ty Bate (Rachel); grandchildren, Justin Wetzler (Becca), Brittany Lewis (Adam), Cody Liska (Carrie), Coltan Liska (Alison), Kiana Liska, Don Shoopman (Lani), Ellie Eguires-Lee (David), Allison Bate-Hutson (Richard); great-grandchildren, Jenise Wetzler, Kylynn Wetzler, Anjrue Lewis, Ayana Lewis, Avina Lewis, Teddy Shoopman, Charlotte Shoopman, Henry Shoopman, Warren Shoopman, Cole Eguires-Lee, Jillian Eguires-Lee, Koraline Eguires-Lee, Owen Bate Hutson, Evelyn Hutson; sister E. Estella Cox; and brother, Gary Milburn Cox.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Milburn and Eleanor Cox; husband, Lester Bate; sister, Kovita Alcobendas; and brother, Daniel Cox.
