Feb 2, 2024

Lifetime Palmer, Alaska, resident Bob Arnold Havemeister, 83, passed away on Feb. 2, 2024, in Palmer, surrounded by family.

A celebration of life will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, 1015 South Check Street in Wasilla, Alaska, at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024.

Bob was born on May 6, 1940, in Palmer to colonists Emmy and Arnold Havemeister. He graduated from Palmer High. He married Jean Andersen in 1961, and had three sons: Todd, Bob and Ty.

Bob remained on the family farm and, together with his wife Jean, successfully grew the small colony farm into a thriving 150 head dairy herd. Bob was known for his animal husbandry, his love of the land, his adoration of babies and his dry sense of humor.

Over the years, he enjoyed exploring the state with his super cub, fly tying, woodworking, playing pinochle and fishing at the creek with his great-grandchildren.

His grandchildren will cherish their memories made on the farm, and his affection for them.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Havemeister McCorkle, in November 2004.

He is survived by his sister, Helen Riley; his wife, Jean Havemeister; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd Havemeister (Cindy) of Maitland, Fla., Bob Havemeister (Franci) of Palmer, and Ty Havemeister (Laura) of Palmer; and grandchildren, Aimee Havemeister, Jenna Smith (Josh), A'lise Bruns (Dylan), Travis Havemeister (Jen), Ayslan Cox, Teagan and Taylor Havemeister. He is survived by 16 great-grandchildren.
