"Bob" Robert Charles Reupke passed away on Jan. 24, 2024, with Toni at his side. Bob was born on July 28, 1942, in Jackson Heights, N.Y. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eric and Elizabeth Reupke; grandmother, Dora Hoffmeister; sister-in-law, Roberta Reupke; mother- and father-in-law, Doris (Walls) Peretti and Albert Peretti; and sister-in-law, Tina (Peretti) Severance. Three years after Bob was born, his brother Ed and his twin sister were born. Unfortunately, his twin sister passed away shortly thereafter. They lived in Bayside, N.Y., for a short time and later the family moved to Floral Park, N.Y., where he attended high school and graduated in 1960. He played soccer in high school and was in the Boy Scouts for many years. He was a Life Scout and a member of Order of the Arrow. Bob served in the Navy as a Boilerman (BT3) Petty Officer 3rd Class aboard the Destroyer USS Ingrahm from 1962 to 1964. He participated in the "Blockade of Cuba" in 1963. In 1967, Bob graduated with an associate degree in business from Nassau Community College. Bob drove to Alaska in 1968 in his Red Ford F100 Pickup. He attended Anchorage Community College. He worked for Beneficial Finance Company for a few years. In 1969, he became an insurance adjustor, working for Crawford & Company Insurance Adjustors. He later worked for Underwriters Adjusting Co., Surety of Alaska, American International Adjusting Co. and retired from Professional Adjusters in 2011. He handled all types of claims during his career as an adjustor.
In 1980, Bob married Toni and they have two children: Tom and Elizabeth Reupke. Bob was active at St. Mark Lutheran Church. He served on the Church Council and Property Commission. In his youth, Bob was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and later served as a Scout Leader for his son's Troop 232. During his business career and retirement, Bob served on the Northeast Community Council and the Federation of Community Councils, and volunteered with the NorthEast Community Center, Muldoon Farmer's Market and Lutheran Social Services of Alaska – on the "A" Team.
Bob loved to camp, cross-country ski, bike, travel, explore and tell stories of his exploits. Bob loved Alaska and its many trails, history, community and friendliness. In 1976, in one of his adventures, he hiked the Chilkoot Pass with Don Miller. Another time he went down the Yukon River – at times bailing water. He also hiked Resurrection Pass with his son, Tom and friend Steve Lierer and Steve's niece Mawana, and again with the Boy Scout troop. He encouraged Toni and Elizabeth to go as well. For many years Bob and Toni, with children in tow, traveled with Bob's brother Ed, wife Roberta and nephew Eric. They traveled through many states and National Parks. One trip was thru Death Valley – without the air conditioning! Bob and Toni took a cruise in 2011 thru the Panama Canal with Toni's childhood friend Kathy Hughes and husband Jim. It was the trip of a lifetime.
Bob is survived by his wife, Toni; son, Tom (Lisa) Reupke; daughter, Elizabeth Reupke; grandchildren, Matthew Reupke and Morgan Reupke; brother, Ed Reupke; nephew, Eric (Kris) Reupke; and brother-in-law, Pancho Severance. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church on March 2, 2024, at 3 p.m. Pastor Carol George and Pastor Rick Cavens will officiate.
