Longtime Anchorage, Alaska, resident Donald Ralph Pintar, "Don," 87, died from complications of pneumonia and COPD, at his home early Saturday morning, March 16, 2024, with his loving daughter, Trudy, by his side.
Don was the son of Raphael "Ralph" Pintar and Rachel Ure, and stepfather, Melvin Leroy Johnston. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Francine, the love of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Delores Acton, Sherry Henry, Bonnie Martinsen; and nephew, Forrest Ure Johnston.
Don is survived by three children, Madeleine (Ann), Kirk (Helen) and Trudy Pintar; grandchildren, Brandon, Carrie, Ryan, Troy, Jimmy Sisson, Corrie DenHartog; great-grandchildren, Jimmy Sisson Jr., Charlotte Rodriguez and Greyson Pintar; and great-great-grandson, Makai Sisson. Don also leaves behind two brothers, Eddie Johnston (Ida) and Bill Johnston (Gina); sister, Barbara Siddle (J); and many nieces and nephews.
Don and Francine raised their three children in Anchorage while starting a printing business, Pyramid Printing, in 1969, spanning three generations. Family meant everything to him. Everything he did was with and for his wife and kids. Hobbies included building and flying model airplanes, snowmachining, fishing, boating and camping. He deeply treasured those memories with his family. His enjoyment with the model airplanes continued into his later years, cherishing those friendships he forged on the flying fields.
The past 10 years Don found solace and joy in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and serving in the Lord's Holy Temple.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the COPD Foundation or charity of choice are welcome.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11701 Puma Street in Anchorage.
