George Francis Cushing, 74, of Lake City, Mich., passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024. He was born on May 26, 1949, to Edward and Jennie (Klimovitch) Cushing in Bristol, Conn.

George adventured to Alaska in the 1970s, where he became a meat cutter by profession. He moved to Michigan in 2017, to be closer to family. George enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, Western movies, the UConn Huskies, the New England Patriots and a good campfire.

He is survived by his son, Greg (April) Cushing ; three grandchildren, Adele, Graham and Grady; and siblings, Edward (Dolores) Cushing, Thomas (Barbara) Cushing, Rosemary (David) Cushing-King, Margaret (Rick) Emond and Julie (John) Kulik.

George is preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Lake City Cemetery in Lake City, with Father Andy Booms officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Jude Children's Hospital in his honor.
