Jason D. Tolstrup, 53, passed away on April 24, 2024, in Beatty, Nev., while on a dirt bike trip with his twin brother. He was a lifelong Alaskan – born in Fairbanks on March 2, 1971, seven minutes before his brother. Jason graduated from East Anchorage High School in 1989. He worked in construction and started a metal roofing business. He went on to work large commercial jobs with Watterson Construction and Whalen Construction till he started as a longshoreman at the Port of Anchorage. He became Vice President of the AILU union earlier in 2024.

Jason loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He was a great friend to all and loved brightening the valley commute by lighting the Glenn Highway Christmas tree every year.

He is survived by his wife, Kaye; daughter, Kallie Tolstrup; stepdaughters, Wynter and Maci; twin brother, Dustin Tolstrup; brother, Herb Anderson; parents, Judy Grell and Vance Tolstrup; and stepmother, Joan Tolstrup.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
