Ray, whose journey was as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot, attorney at law and DC-4 pilot in Palmer, Alaska, passed away tragically in an aircraft accident on April 23, 2024. Ray was 63 years old. He leaves behind a legacy of service, adventure and unwavering love for family and friends.
Ray's passion for fishing, flying and extending a helping hand to those in need defined his remarkable life. He will forever be remembered for his jovial spirit and zest for living. Whether it was soaring through the skies or casting his line into the water, Ray found solace and joy in the great outdoors. His mischievous grin and twinkle in his eye were unmistakable trademarks of his vibrant personality. A true nonconformist, Ray lived life on his own terms, never shying away from a challenge or opportunity to have fun. His office in the sky was not just a place of work, but a sanctuary where he felt most alive.
Ray leaves behind his cherished partner and best friend, Coya Cady; her children, Brantley, David, Joseph and Joesy. He was son of Harry Raymond Secoy Jr. (deceased) and Mary Secoy; brother to John Secoy (Mary Beth), Leita Garside (Gary); and uncle to Alex, Morgan, Kennedy, Grayson and John Secoy, Conor and Jansen Garside. All of whom he loved dearly and was loved in return.
Ray was a beloved friend to many. Throughout his life, he formed lasting friendships with individuals such as Bob Macaulay, whom he met at a very young age, remaining close his entire life, and David Bolin, his law mentor and longtime valued friend. Ray also shared a deep bond with Bentley Surdyk, with whom he pursued his passion for flying in Alaska, living the Alaskan dream. Lastly, John Sliwinski, the beautiful soul who perished with Ray. He was a kindred spirit who brought joy to Ray's life. Ray will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ray's spirit will continue to live on and inspire those whose lives he touched.
