Dora Palmer was born on Aug. 25, 1933, in Afognak Village, Alaska. She passed away on May 9, 2024, at the Chugiak Senior Center Assisted Living Home. Dora was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Dora Kewan married Frank Lewis Palmer in November 1956 in Kodiak, Alaska. They moved to California when Frank was transferred to Camp Pendelton. They had five children: Susan, Martin, Barbara, JoAnn and Edna. Dora has 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, game shows and reading. She loved to take a drive on a sunny day. She loved to cook homemade meals for her children and grandchildren. Her potato salad, lemon meringue pies and cinnamon rolls were loved by all. Dora enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren and they were often at her house.
Dora is survived by her children, Susan, Martin, JoAnn and Edna; brothers, Harold, Dennis, Nick and Kenny; and sister, Alberta. She is predeceased by former spouse, Frank; daughter, Barbara; and granddaughter, Sarah.
Her church service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Innocent's Russian Orthodox Church in Anchorage, Alaska. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Angelus Memorial Park on Klatt Road in Anchorage.
