Stephen Scheele

May 31, 1953 -

May 4, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Michael Scheele on May 4, 2024, in Anchorage, Alaska.

Steve was born on May 31, 1953, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. He spent his early years in Fairbanks, Alaska, and then moved back to Anchorage in 1965. Stephen graduated from Dimond High School, class of 1971, in Anchorage. Later in life he moved to Seward, Alaska. to be near his two daughters and his grandchildren.

Steve followed in his father's footsteps and became an electrician, which he did for many years. Later he worked as a craftsman and businessman in the Alaska construction industry.

Steve was a huge sports enthusiast. He loved going to the Anchorage Glacier Pilots games with his family growing up, and he had the opportunity to broadcast for them and host some of the players during the summers. He was a lifelong fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. His support for both teams never wavered. Steve also loved being able to go king salmon fishing on the Kenai River and Alexander Creek.

The only thing more important to Steve than his love of sports was his love for his family. He is survived by his brothers, Rick Scheele of Temecula, Calif., Kevin Scheele of Eagle River, Alaska, and Brian Scheele of Seward; two daughters, Emilia Thiele and Anastasia Scheele of Seward; grandchildren, and the absolute loves of his life, Athena Smith, Mikail Mooter, Kai Roddan, Victoria Roddan, Kelly Scheele, Loki Roddan and Violet Roddan; and great-grandson, Perseus Ray, all of Seward.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Gail Scheele; and sister, Kelly Mae Scheele.

Burial is at 11 a.m., on July 26, 2024, at Valley Memorial Gardens in Palmer, Alaska. We will have a celebration of life in Anchorage later that day. Please call Rick Scheele at 951-907-7472 if you have any questions.
