May 25, 2024
Mary Cora (Martinez) died peacefully on May 25, 2024, at the age of 101, at home with her son Rhodney by her side.
She was born in Amalia, N.M., to Louis and Fedelina Martinez, one of 14 children. The family relocated to Douglas, Wyo., where Mary graduated from Douglas High.
Mary met and married Mr. Blass and had Monica Jean, who passed at six months due to SIDS. After the death of Mr. Blass, Mary worked various jobs and a few years later met the husband of her three children, Andrea, Mary Jo and Rhodney. Mary went to Casper Junior College and graduated a stenographer at the top of her class. She went on to work for Natrona County Court House, where she worked for judges, lawyers and the juvenile probation office. She also worked as an interpreter in the court system. She volunteered for Big Brothers and Big Sisters and mentored many who still remember her with endearment. She worked weekends cleaning houses to make ends meet for her family.
Later in life she met and married the love of her life, Richard Davis. They moved to Glendo, Wyo., where she lived until his passing. She moved then to Albuquerque, N.M., to be closer to two of her sisters, Maxine and Leora. A few years later, she moved back to Casper, Wyo., until the age of 93, when she moved to Anchorage, Alaska, to be close to her children Andrea and Rhodney. She was easy to make new friends and did. She loved bingo and outings with the family.
A funeral mass will be said at Holy Family Catholic Church on June 25, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
