Lawrence Marvin passed away July 16, 2024 due to complications of cancer. He was born December 14, 1942 in Hoonah, Alaska to Carl Sr. And Frances V. Marvin.
He attended Sheldon Jackson High School. During those years he fished with his uncles and brothers on the F/V Yukon II. After graduation he attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kan. Once he returned to Alaska he was employed at Alaska Airlines where he worked in the warehouse and on the ramp until he retired with 38 years of service.
On June 5, 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Jamestown. They had three children that they would raise in Anchorage, Alaska. He lived for fishing, camping and hunting. He taught his children and grandchildren how to put up food for the winter.
He served as a delegate for Tlingit and Haida Tribes of Anchorage. He loved basketball and was a UAA Seawolves booster club for many years. He would travel to Juneau to cheer for his hometown team at the Gold Medal tournament.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Pat; siblings, Carl Jr, George, Charlotte and Wallace.
He is survived by his children, Laurie and Pat Lamp, Bobby, Linda and John Stinson. His grands, Krista and Chris McDonald, Vanessa Rose, Brittany and Scottie Stepp, Jesse Stutzke, Alicia and Brady Freeman. Great grands, Eli, Isaac, Joshua, Jacob, Gabriel McDonald and Charlie Heinson. His brother, Reginald W. Marvin; as well as a very large extended family.
A memorial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage AK on July 27, 2024.
