Attorney and friend Terry Paul Draeger, 66, died on July 16, 2024, at Providence hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. Terry was born in Napoleon, N.D., on Dec. 26, 1957, where his parents grew up.
Following Terry's graduation from Napoleon High School, he attended Mary College in Bismarck, N.D., where he earned his certified public accountant degree. He then went to law school at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., for one year and, finally earned a Master in Business Administration and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver. Following graduation, Terry moved to Anchorage and began his 40-year law career specializing in bankruptcy, taxation and corporate business.
Terry was devoted to his clients and always made them feel like family. He was known for his kindness, quiet demeanor and smile. He demonstrated patience, compassion and grace, and showed unconditional love in everything he did.
In 1983, Terry married Jody Gross, his high school sweetheart. For over 52 years they traveled, fished, hunted and snowmachined, all while enjoying their cabins with family and friends.
For Terry, living in Alaska was a lifelong dream that he accomplished. Terry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Some would say he was the "Fish Whisperer." He passed his love of the outdoors to his family and cherished teaching them all there was to learn.
Terry's biggest joy was raising their children, Megen, Terri Lynn and David, and he treasured his six grandchildren: Jamie, Landon, Trace, Eloise, Harvey and Aurora.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Terry's honor at Fox Hollow Chalet in Anchorage on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A tribute will begin at 6 p.m.
