Longtime Soldotna, Alaska, resident Mrs. Betty Joyce Bonner, 81, died on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at her home in Soldotna with her sons by her side.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at the Kenai Peninsula Shrine Club, 47445 West Poppy Lane, Soldotna, AK 99669. Greg Russell will be officiating.
Betty was born July 1, 1943, in Hanford, Calif. She graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver, Wash. In 1977, she moved to Alaska, living in Eagle River for 10 years, before moving to Soldotna. She worked in Civil Service wherever Walt happened to be stationed in the military that year. Betty was a member of the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine of North America since 1972. She was a member of the Al Aska Shrine, which Walt and Betty were dedicated to for 50 years. They supported the Shriners Hospital in Portland for many years. Betty loved helping people, solving problems and family.
The family wrote, "She was loving, attentive, encouraging, loyal, compassionate with an inner drive to help others."
She is survived by her sons, Ronald Bonner of Round Rock, Texas, and Scott Bonner of Soldotna, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bonner; and grandson, Benjamin Davenport.

She is inurned at Fort Richardson National Cemetery in Anchorage, Alaska.
