Natalie Riendl, a lifetime Alaska resident, died of natural causes with her family by her side on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024. Natalie, 97, was born in Hyder, Alaska, on Dec. 8, 1926. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish at 1:30 p.m., on Sept. 13, 2024, followed by a Christian Burial at Anchorage Memorial Cemetery.
Natalie was a devoted daughter, sister, homemaker, wife, mother and friend. Natalie put God first in her life faithfully helping others through her wonderful conversations and volunteer work. Natalie helped to form the first Praesidium of the Legion of Mary - founded by Frank Duff in Ireland in 1921 - in Anchorage with her husband Joseph Riendl and Fr. Joseph Shirey, S.J. Through the Legion of Mary she volunteered for 15 years at the Alaska Native Hospital, she visited the jail, the elderly and sick and homebound parishioners, all whom she said helped to build up her own faith and hope in God, "God will take care of all of us."
Natalie will be buried beside her husband Joseph Riendl who preceded her in death. Natalie is survived by her children, Jodi and Bob Eaton, Bob and Judy Riendl, Danica Riendl, Christine Lamoureux, Joseph and Vicki Riendl, and her beloved 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers include: Jay Riendl, Brooks Riendl, Mitchel Lamoureux, Kyle Lamoureux, Avi Solomon and Asher Solomon.
