Jack "Jackie" Ray Morrell

Jack Ray "Jackie Ray" Morrell was born Sept. 1, 1949, in Los Angeles, Calif.

He went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2024, with his girlfriend of 20 years, Sally Johnson, by his side.

His family moved to Alaska in 1951, where his family homesteaded in Willow. Jack joined the Navy at age 18. Jack loved his family, he loved working, he loved helping people. Jackie Ray loved to sing onstage karaoke. He even created a CD. Jack had many businesses. He owned The Chicken Man restaurant in the '70s, he wrote jingles for radio commercials, cab driver, automart, realtor, the Caribou Bus lines and the Caribou B&B, all in Anchorage.

Jack then started the Caribou Family Restaurant with Sally Johnson, in Happy Valley, then Homer and lastly in Soldotna, Alaska. He even wrote a jingle for the commercial about being happy, happy, happy. Every Thanksgiving, Jack would host free turkey dinners for all.

Jack will be remembered by his sister, Donna Morrell-Garret of Colorado; four children, Saundra Noble of Anchorage, Elias Morrell of Anchorage, Michelle Morrell of Soldotna and August "Gus" Morrell of Soldotna; grandchildren, Justis Morrell-Bucy of Anchorage, the late Tyler Morrell-Bucy of Anchorage, Jade "Sonny" Morrell of Soldotna, Shane Morrell of St. Mary's, Alaska, Alissa Lamont of Soldotna, Kaylin Morrell of Soldotna, Raven Morrell of Soldotna and Shyann Bartley of Anchorage; and one great-grandchild, Elliana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Dee Morrell; and sister, Cheryl Hughes of Missouri.

The Celebration of Life will be held in Palmer, Alaska, on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at 4 p.m. to midnight, at the Palmer Community Depot at 610 Valley Way, Palmer, AK 99645; food will be provided.
