Sep 22, 2024
Gia Francesca Perrozzi was born Dec. 28, 1981 in Minneapolis, Minn. and spent most of her life in Anchorage, Alaska spreading gifts of joy to those around her.
Gia accomplished many things in her short time with us; her greatest gift being a beacon of unconditional love and authentic acceptance to all she knew, embracing all those she encountered without judgment. Throughout her journey, Gia taught us to live in the moment, encouraging us to appreciate the beauty of the present and all it had to give. She was the personification of joy and throughout her entire journey she spread her infectious smile and contagious laugh to all who were around her. While Gia left us far too soon, the impact she had on our community and hearts will resonate for years to come. We'll always imagine hearing her say 'Where ya goin?' and 'Whatcha doin?' reminding us of her vibrant spirit.
Gia is preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Patricia Perrozzi and Wilbur and Alpha Icenogle. Those left to carry on her memory and love are her parents, Joe and Jane Perrozzi; her sisters, Angela Cates and Tricia West. She also leaves her brothers-in-law, Cliff Cates and John West; and her nieces and nephews, Siderius West, Mira Cates, Raylen West, and Aven Cates.
Gia's grandfather shared a clipping that expressed his feelings about death before he passed. The clipping said:
"Death is not the extinguishing of the light, but the removal of the lamp, because the fullness of day had finally arrived."
The fullness of day arrived peacefully for Gia in her home at 1:42 p.m. on Sunday, the twenty second of September, twenty twenty four.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Gia's support staff for their unwavering strength, kindness, and compassion during her final moments, allowing her to experience a serene departure in the comforts of her home. We also thank our family and friends for their love and support during this time.
A memorial service to celebrate Gia's beautiful life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Hope Community Resources: 570 W. 53rd, Anchorage, AK 99518. All who knew her are welcome to join us in honoring the wonderful gifts and memories she shared with us, which will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
