Paul Spiro, age 70, tragically and unexpectedly passed away on October 4th. Paul was born in Georgia, the eldest child of Norman and Janet Spiro. Growing up, he lived in various locations. Paul attended West Point and the University of California at San Diego before graduating with a civil engineering degree from the University of Washington. He moved to Alaska shortly thereafter.

Paul was licensed in several engineering disciplines. He worked as a petroleum engineer, and subsequently worked for the state of Alaska where, among other things, he supervised construction of the Spring Creek Correctional Center in Seward and projects at the Ted Stevens International Airport. For the past three decades, Paul managed and maintained his various real estate holdings. Paul was a mechanical savant. He could fix anything.

In 2008, Paul married Elida Tannler. Paul was a pilot who enjoyed spending time with Elida, and their daughter Piper, at their remote lake cabin in the valley.

Paul was a thoughtful son, a loving husband, an amazing father, and a great friend. He is survived by his wife, Elida; daughter, Piper; mother, Janet Spiro; sister, Toni Boeh; brother, Johnathan Spiro; nephew, Evan Boeh; step-daughter Michelle Rushton, and her daughter, Rivers.

A service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22nd, at Heritage Chapel, 440 E. Klatt Rd., in Anchorage, where friends and family are invited to share their favorite stories and memories of Paul, and to celebrate his remarkable life.
