Robert Carl Dickfoss Jr., Rob to friends and family, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 23, 2024, in Anchorage, Alaska. Born on May 14, 1965, in Alamogordo, N.M., to Doris "Mickey" and Robert Dickfoss. Rob's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his family and a passion for helping others. The family moved to Alaska when Rob was five. He attended Harvester Christian Academy and graduated from East Anchorage High School. During the summers, the family would go down to Dot's Fish Camp on the Kenai, and eventually to the family cabin on Dow Island. The cabin was a sanctuary for Rob, a place where he could indulge in his love for boating on the river and spending time with his family. Even after the cabin was sold, Rob's fondness for the river never waned, and he continued to share this passion with everyone around him.
For 19 years, Rob was a respected and valued employee at Summit Doors and Hardware, where he dedicated himself to his customers and coworkers and was always ready to go the extra mile. One of Rob's greatest passions was the world of trains and model railroads, a lifelong love that was sparked by his friend Pete. He held a particular fondness for the Santa Fe Railroad and found great pleasure in vacations spent watching and following trains. Rob came to know Christ in eighth grade and rededicated his life years later. He attended Anchorage Bible Fellowship where he sacrificially gave his time. Whether it was helping someone move, mowing lawns, or assisting in the kitchen at church and camp, Rob was always there, ready to lend a hand. He showed the love of Christ through acts of service to anyone that needed help. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents; and several aunts and uncles, with a special remembrance for his uncle, Jimmy. He is survived by his children, Danielle and Geoffrey; his beloved wife Becky; stepchildren, Lexyl, Abagail, Morgen, Oliver, and Kawika; his siblings, Pete (Susan) Gross, Guy Gross, and Barb Gorder; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever cherish his memory. A memorial service will be held Oct. 26,2024 at 2 p.m. at Anchorage Bible Fellowship, 7348 Elmore Rd in Anchorage. His ashes will be dusted on the Kenai next summer.
