Jon Paul Bergstedt, 71, was a lifelong Alaskan. He lived his life by the motto "Hard work is fun!" Starting as a brick layer at 14, he later earned a Bachelor of Science degree on an Alpine ski scholarship from Alaska Methodist University, Summa Cum Laude. Jon began his career as a commercial pilot after graduating and marrying his wife, Yvonne. Together they raised two daughters in the house Jon built piece by piece after work each day.
Jon enjoyed everything Alaska had to offer. He loved aviation, hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, biking, cabins and berry picking with his family and friends. Jon was an endless spring of selflessness, humor and excitement for life. He could fix anything or learn how if he didn't already know. He lived for his family, and still managed to take care of so many other people. The amount of work he did and positive energy he had - he was like five men.
Dad, we will try to work hard, always celebrate "the greatest day known to mankind" and try to keep dandelions from taking over the world. You are so incredibly loved and missed. Your squat team, Yvonne, Svea and Vanessa.
A celebration of life will be held at O'Malley's on the Green on May 4, 2025, at 3 p.m.
